In total, it consists of more than one million words and one thousand images carefully curated from content deemed relevant to this topic. But wait… what is a global polycrisis?

A global polycrisis is defined as “the causal entanglement of crises in multiple global systems in ways that significantly degrade humanity’s prospects.” The 21st century is a period marked by the convergence of multiple crises— climate change, biodiversity loss, pandemics, war, migration, poverty and debt— to name just a few. It can be difficult to understand such complex, seemingly intractable phenomena and explore appropriate responses to them. As such, this Wiki aims to help educate people about the global polycrisis, so that they may identify and implement more effective responses.

How is this Wiki organized?

This Wiki is organized in four sections:

The Current Predicament
- This section explores the global polycrisis and its two main drivers— overshoot and inequality.
Probable Futures
- This section ****describes the dominant change trajectories and reforms that produce the most likely future of continued overshoot and inequality, leading to collapse.
Preferable Futures
- This section ****envisions systemic transformations within the social imaginary and political economy, leading to a desirable future.
Working towards the Great Transition
- This section provides philosophical and practical guidance orienting us toward a future of social and ecological flourishing.
